We look for many different styles when choosing our design team to try to meet all of our costumers interest.  So your style will perfect!!! Our fearless leader, Sara, will choose the new Design Team and a make the announcement when she returns from CHA.  Speaking of Sara and CHA she leaves for sunny California on Saturday and returns January 31st.  She will be at the show for 3 full days  looking at all the new must haves from all the different companies.  As always she will come back with new product, new techniques, and thousands upon thousands of pictures.

I say while Sara's away lets let the City Chicks Play!!!! FOR FREE!!!!  We will be having a FREE crop this Saturday from 10 til 6... All you need to do is call ahead and reserve a spot or spots for you and your girlfriends.  A FREE girls day sounds awesome!!

Also, if you haven't been in the store in the last couple of days we have several new must have lines by echo park. So come in a check them out.  Tish and Sara have also been hard at work on new classes.  Trish's stamp a stack is filling up so call soon and Sara has finished the new Scrap Club designs and they are awesome.  Jesselyn is offering a Christmas Layout class this Saturday at 11 during the free crop so you could take advantage of this opportunity also.

I feel like I have gone on and on but there is so much going on here at the City I want to make sure everyone knows about them and can take advantage of them.

Have a Great Rainy Thursday

Talent Search

Scrappin In the City - Wednesday, January 11, 2012

Calling all super crafty ladies.....it's time again to pick our new Design Team members for the store.  It's hard to believe it's already been six months that we've had the awesome designs hanging in our store from our current designers.  If you love to scrap, make cards, create mini books, alter items to make them crafty, (really, anything in the way of designing things with paper and embellishments), this is your chance to show off your work and get a great discount on some fabulous supplies!  We are looking for a few creative people to design projects for our store.  These can be anything crafty made with our current products, not just scrapbook pages.  In exchange for you letting us borrow three projects per month over the next six months, we will give you a 20% discount on everything you buy, FREE crops and an exclusive SITC Design Team t-shirt.  Pretty sweet deal, huh?  To submit your designs, just bring a few things that represent your style (these submissions do not necessarily have to be with our current products)  in to the store before Saturday, Jan. 28.  We will check out all of the submissions and announce the the Design Team on Feb. 2, with your commitment beginning Feb. 3.  What are you waiting for?  What a great opportunity to share your talent with others!

I can't wait to see your designs!

Have a great rainy Wednesday...

Trish

Mystery 'Mindset' at The City

Scrappin In the City - Tuesday, October 11, 2011

We have mysterious things going on this month at The City.  To get us in the mystery "mindset" we are beginning to decorate for the Halloween season.  Which will be perfect for our upcoming appearance in a Discovery channel documentary :)  Yes, you read this correctly... The Discovery Channel approached Sara one day last week about using the City to film for an upcoming documentary.  Filming will take place tonight and we will certainly let you know when the documentary is going to air.  But, trust us...when we say the plot is mysterious and even hard to imagine for the spookiest of minds!

Also, we have a special City Chick digging into the past of our 100 year old home.  Who knows what crazy things she will find out!  All of the mysteries we are being presented with over the next few weeks has lead right into the November retreat theme... The City Girls Murder Mystery Mountain Retreat... :)

Also, this is my first blog...Such A FUN DAY...On to the important info right??? To Post or Not????

Scrappin In the City - Wednesday, September 14, 2011

I confess... I'm not very good at this blogging thing!  Every day, actually atleast 5 times each day, I think 'I need to blog, I need to blog' ...but yet it never gets done.  Always on the 'to do' list and never gets marked off!  As I sat in the tub tonight (again thinking 'I need to blog!') I started wondering why its always last on the list for me.  I realized during my reflections in the tub, lol, that I have a hard time separating my personal life and my business.  But, you know what??  They are the same.  Scrappin' In The City IS Sara and Sara IS Scrappin' In The City... what a revelation!!! ha

I started thinking of even my Facebook pages.  I have one for the store and one for my personal.  In looking at my personal friends list... they are almost 80% friends by/from/through the store!!  I've read all the retailer magazines, journals, tips, etc.... They mostly all say keep it business.  But being all business is boring to me sometimes!!  When Jenn & I started the store, it wasn't all about 'the business'.  It was about the love of all things scrapbooking & crafting.  When I would get all stressed out about biz stuff...she would often remind me to just have fun with it!!

In the last 2 years, the store & myself have been through some serious hardships and life changes.  But on the flipside, we both have had some great triumphs.  Scrappin' In The City is a business, it is a retail store.... but most importantly, its a place where we come to be inspired.  Its a place where we gather as friends and enjoy our hobby.  When I hear the name of the store, I smile.  When I see the website, I smile.  When I see our beautiful 100 year old home, I smile.  When I walk through the store looking at all the products, I get inspired & smile.  When I see each friendly face come through the door, I smile!

We all wear multiple hats as moms... I like to think I'm a great multi-tasker, but in all reality I'm probably not.  I'm a wannabe :)  I don't even want to list how many 'hats' I wear on a daily basis.  Just the thought exhausts me!!  I am a 'grab the bull by the horns & run with it' kind of gal...which can sometimes be dangerous!  Please forgive me when you don't hear from me for a couple days??!?  I'm most likely focused on a project (like a retreat or show!!) or focused on my home, tackling my laundry, trying to be supermom ...you know the drill...

So...bottom line is this: In an effort to blog more, I'm just gonna have fun with it & be me!  If I'm inspired by something I see, I'll post it.  If I'm organizing my scrap stuff with something new & cool, I'll post it.  When there's new product in the store, I'll post it.  I'm not gonna worry anymore about all the technical stuff... spellcheck, hyperlinks, photos sized to the correct pixels, business only news, etc.  Heck, I may even start blogging from my iphone!! lol

I am soooo glad to have the store back open during the week!  I'm very much looking forward to this new chapter in my life as well as the stores.  For me, its all combined! :)  Our first retreat of the season is this weekend and I'm planning on doing some SERIOUS scrapping.  I want to say thank you for being so supportive of the City and for all the encouragement!  Stop by and say hi this week...

toodles,
Sara
